About
In Person | Azalea Fresh Market FREE This Jane’s Walk , taking place in South Downtown, focuses on themes of Environment and History & Culture. What's living in the city right alongside you? Join Jessyca Holland of the Atlanta City Studio and Jim Hackler, sustainability advocate, journalist, and community organizer for a walk through South Downtown that looks at how green spaces survive and thrive in an urban environment. The route visits pocket habitats, native plantings, and a community garden, and passes through a neighborhood in active transformation — with historic buildings being restored and annual gardens giving way to perennial native and pollinator plantings. Along the way, you'll learn how these small patches of habitat function as stepping stones for migrating insects and urban wildlife. The walk begins at Azalea Fresh Market and ends at the Five Points Community Garden. MARTA riders can take the train to Five Points station, right around the corner from the starting point.
