About
I hope everyone will join me for another one of Sandy Springs’ hidden treasures—the Blue Heron Nature Preserve. Located right off Roswell Road heading toward Buckhead (4055 Roswell Rd), this little trail system is truly a gem. The preserve includes 1.5 miles of trail and is home to more than 488 species of trees , countless insects (including lots of butterflies), mosses, fungi, and beautiful creek views. It’s a peaceful, interesting, and very pretty place to explore. On Sunday morning, we’ll meet in the main parking lot to begin our 3âmile hike. This is a gentle trail—perfect for beginners and for anyone who wants to connect with nature and enjoy time with fellow outdoor enthusiasts. We’ll loop the trail twice to get our miles in and take in all the sights. More information about the preserve: http://bhnp.org/index.html I look forward to hiking with everyone! Notes: Please use the second entrance . The first entrance (depending on your direction of travel) leads to the garden area. The second entrance—where we are meeting—has a large parking lot, the nature center, and a driving bridge you’ll cross. The bridge has a charming sign that reads “SLOW FOR TURTLE CROSSING.” Please follow this reminder, as many turtles use this area. See everyone there! Beginners and newcomers are encouraged to join us.
