About
About the Event: Join us at the Peachtree Branch Library at 12 p.m. on the first Friday of each month for a lively discussion of books that explore how design shapes our world. Hosted by MODA and the library, conversations are led by MODA staff or guest experts. If you like, bring your lunch (no red beverages, please) and dive into fresh perspectives on design! This June, we’ll explore Threads of Life: A History of the World Through the Eye of a Needle by Clare Hunter, a globe-spanning history of sewing, embroidery, and the people who have used needle and thread to make their voices heard. A textile artist, Hunter weaves together historical accounts, from the Bayeux Tapestry to prisoners of war during World War II, with personal stories to reveal how needlework has long been a powerful form of expression, especially in challenging circumstances. This book can be borrowed through Fulton County library system or purchased in MODA’s Design Shop. No registration is necessary.
