National Park Week & Earth Week Kick-Off: National Junior Ranger Day! Young persons and the young at heart are invited to earn an official Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area Junior Ranger Badge. Discover the natural wonders of the Chattahoochee River and the wildlife and habitats along its banks. Hike along the river and explore streams, wetlands, meadows, and forest. Find items on your Junior Ranger Scavenger Hunt checklist or complete the Junior Ranger Activity Book. Learn more about being a good steward of National Park Service sites. After completing the activities, return to our table to be sworn in as a National Park Service Junior Ranger and receive your official Junior Ranger Badge! Activities are on a drop-in, self-guided basis. Families are invited to just enjoy the day and complete the Jr. Ranger Book or participate in the alternative Jr. Ranger activities offered. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Location: Johnson Ferry North Unit, Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. 301 Johnson Ferry Rd SE, Marietta, GA 30068 Next to the Nantahala Outdoor Center outpost in the gravel parking lot. Facilities: Located across from the boat ramp Difficulty: Easy level walking Bring: Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes suitable for walking on a forest trail. Dress in layers so that you can adjust to changes in the temperature and activity level. Be sure to bring water and a snack might be a good idea.
