The way audiences experience news and storytelling has fundamentally changed. In a world shaped by TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, vertical video, dynamic visuals, and fast-moving storytelling are transforming how journalists, filmmakers, and creators capture attention and communicate information. This panel explores how visual-first storytelling is reshaping journalism and the broader media and entertainment landscape. From independent journalists documenting breaking news on social media to filmmakers and major studios crafting digital content to build buzz around films, compelling visuals and short-form video have become essential tools for reaching audiences. Featuring guests from newsrooms, documentary filmmaking, and digital media, the conversation will examine how creators are adapting their storytelling for mobile-first audiences. Panelists will discuss the rise of vertical video, the blending of journalism and documentary techniques, and how visual storytelling is helping news organizations and filmmakers connect with audiences in more immediate and innovative ways. As the lines between journalism, documentary, and digital media continue to blur, this discussion will explore how storytelling is evolving—and what it means for the future of news and entertainment.
