Wind Orchestra presents "Around the World" & Concert Band presents "Step by Step" Thursday, April 23, 2026 | 7:00 PM | Rialto Center for the Arts – Theater Join the Georgia State University Wind Orchestra and Concert Band for a dynamic evening of music in "Around the World" and "Step by Step." The Concert Band, conducted by Lawrence Williams, with guest graduate conductors Rachel Breaux and Julianna Pinero, presents a program filled with diverse and engaging works. Highlights include Andrew Boysen Jr.'s Kirkpatrick Fanfare, the lively Street Tango by Astor Piazzolla, and Frank Ticheli’s Simple Gifts: Four Shaker Songs. The concert will also feature Alex Shapiro’s playful Tight Squeeze and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Folk Dances, capturing vibrant folk themes with a twist. The Wind Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Devin Reid and graduate guest conductor Braeden Weyrich, features "Around the World" with a program that takes audiences on a musical journey. Highlights include Luigi Denza’s Funiculi-Funicula Rhapsody, Percy Grainger’s Irish Tune from County Derry, and John Barnes Chance’s Variations on a Korean Folk Song.
