Lineup: For a Look or a Touch (Punk) and Chamber Music (Punk). 2025–2026 Emory Department of Music Free Event/No Tickets Required For a Look or a Touch, with music by Jake Heggie and text by Gene Scheer, addresses the largely unacknowledged persecution of gay men during the Holocaust. Inspired by survivor testimonies from the documentary Paragraph 175 and the journal of Manfred Lewin—a young gay Jewish poet murdered at Auschwitz—the work centers on the enduring love between Manfred and his partner, Gad Beck. In the piece, Manfred appears as a ghost, sung by the baritone, urging Gad to remember both their love and the lives erased by history, anchored by the recurring question “Do you remember?”. This performance features Sonny Yoo, piano; Lina Andonovska, flute; and Christopher Briggs Rodriguez, baritone, with students from the Emory music department and McDuffie Center for Strings forming a Pierrot-style chamber ensemble. Recommended parking: Parking lot adjacent to the building on Burlington Road or Gambrell/Lowergate South Parking Deck.
