TEX 01 – Floor Loom Weaving – Shadow Weave Using Dyed Warps (Edmisten)

This spring we will explore shadow weave where 2 color (minimum) contrasting warp threads are woven with 2 color (minimum) weft threads to create amazing patterns that give off an optical illusion vibe as alternating bands of light and dark reveal the pattern. The “Callanweaver” twist will be using a hand-dyed warp for one of the contrasting warp threads. This will challenge us as we combine 2 different warps, prepared separately, at the loom. Dye day may take place on a weekend at an off-campus location nearby. Students who can’t make the dye day will be provided with a dyed warp. Students who have some prior weaving experiences are welcome in this class. Brand new weavers are encouraged to take the Weaving Introduction Workshop or Beginners Plus! Class.
