DAP 12 – Glass Mosaic and Suncatcher (Trodglen)

This class is about building a glass mosaic that will allow light to come through, giving a stained glass effect. A picture frame with glass, 14×17 or larger, will be our canvas. We will use a sharpie or china pencil to measure and draw our design on the glass, then use paint, glass of all kinds, and copper tape called “came” to create our design. It is highly recommended that the student start with a large frame. Frames, broken glass and beads may be purchased at Goodwill, Last Chance, My Favorite Place and Scraplanta. Other suggested items: Sheets of glass, glass, plastic and pottery tiles of all shapes, shells, sea glass, broken china, beads, old and broken jewelry, or semiprecious stones.
